I can’t download a torrent file properly!?
I’ve been trying to use torrents to download “Angry video game nerd” videos on my macintosh using bittorrent but it takes WAY TOO LONG. For some reason it says it will take about two days to load. Does anyone know why it’s so ridiculously long? I mean I can understand that it should take a while because it’s so large but I don’t understand why it should take DAYS!

It could take ‘days’ if there is only one or two people actually seeding the file. That means you are only getting it from one or two sources who also may be having other people downloading from them at the same time. So it will be really really sloooooowwww. Just be patient and you’ll get it eventually.

As already said, depends how many you can download from. You might also want to port forward to get better download speeds.
Heres the link for port forwarding below. Select router and follow instructions. Most people use Utorrent these days btw.
Good luck

I tried downloading a torrent, When I saw, that it would take 256 days, 14 hdrs and 46 seconds. I stopped it.
Torrents can take a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time to download.

Depends on:
1) Your line speed
2) How many people (preferably “seeders”) are offering the file for you to download, and how fast their connection is
3) The priority the seeders give you
You can improve this:
1) a separate topic with lots to say, but in brief, if you’re on DSL then improve your internal wiring (e.g. disconnect extensions you don’t need) and optimise your computer (e.g. the network system stack).
2) pick a file that has lots of high speed seeders (you don’t always get a choice about this).
3) on most torrent systems you can improve your priority by being a good seeder yourself i.e. sharing files for other people to download.
Remember to keep it legal!
