what is the best anti-virus,anti-popup software for my pc (name &version)?
i run windows xp,and get my software from sites like mininova.i ran into a nasty little popup situation recently and my”avg scan” could not stop it.

Eset Nod32 Smart Security 3.0.642.0 or BitDefender 2008 are really good antivirus programs.

Heres a list…The ones I’ve heard about or used
Free:
Avast! antivirus (pretty good)
AVG (apparently not as good as avast)
Mcafee, use the set from Mcafee if you get it free with comcast or verizon
Spyware doctor trial (download as part of the google pack to bypass 30 day limit)
Paid:
Norton 360, the best you can get
Spyware doc full
PC tools spyware + antivirus
Mcafee(use norton if you can get it)
Other:
CA (never used it)
PC tools Threatfire(great supplement to any virus scanner or firewall)
Recommendations:
Don’t have too many of these installed at once.
I run Mcafee + spyware doc
Get the latest versions, you NEED a program that will auto update.
Bugs:
Mcafee spamkiller killed my Vista pc instead of Spam
Threatfire prevented Maplestory from running
